Abdulrasheed Bawa, the fourth executive chairman of EFCC, gave me unprecedented access to the sprawling complex of the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.
For the longest time, Nigerians dreaded the name EFCC and have always believed it was established for criminals and those who do illegal businesses. In this conversation, he emphasized the need for citizens to be free with the agency and not get scared of their operations.
Abdulrasheed Bawa made a joke where he said he can’t even hurt a fly, so the operations of the EFCC are never targeted at hurting anyone.
He cleared the air, saying that power belongs to the system and government but never to him. So, citizens should be free to carry out their daily activities without fear unless they are guilty of an offense.
