“I was frustrated when I got rejected at every audition.” — Biodun Stephen sits #WithChude.
I am side eying all of you who had been sleeping on Biodun Stephen despite already establishing her brilliance over a decade ago:)
I like to support hidden Nollywood stories and so I went into the cinema in 2019 to see a movie called – Joba – that didn’t have a lot of hype. But it had Enado Odigie who is brilliant, and it also has Blossom Chukwujekwu.
When I walked out of the cinema, I was in awe – of the story, of the screenplay, of the actors directing. I began to search frantically for the director’s number to tell her well done and to ask her never to give up. Glory was coming!
That filmmaker is the now iconic Biodun Stephen – who went on to another level this year with the blockbuster release of Sista.
This interview, of course, will warm your heart, as she shares stories from her past that she has never shared before, and tells me why her films have such power and such heart.
