At some point when I just couldn’t go on anymore and I had become strong in faith, I said to myself, “it’s all over now”. I couldn’t get through to my wife because I had messed up my family.
I said to myself if there was no way in front then I’d have to take a step back. But I wasn’t going to go back and I also wasn’t going back to America as a failure. The narrative has always been that at the slightest discomfort everyone returns to America. So it was a do-or-die affair for me. The only thing to live for was to get it done the right way.
