My guest today is the winner of the Big Brother Naija 2021 “Whitemoney”.
It was indeed a learning time talking to someone who had experienced rejection, failure and set back all his life. This interview will get you thrilled.
What it feels like to be rejected!
I was denied a lot of privileges. When record labels were looking for artists, they would turn me down. When I go for auditions for billboards, they turn me down. Even from the women, I got rejected because I was broke, and you know that money and love work hand in hand. In our current situation, you can buy love. It just depends on the amount. When you finish it, you either renew it or you upgrade.
I got turned down by women, I got turned down by men, I got turned down by friends. The only people who stood by me were my immediate family members who saw the potential in me. Three years in a row, I also got turned down for Big Brother by the same crew. They turned me down the first year, the second year, and the third. But by the fourth time, they accepted me. That was the final acceptance but everything else was rejection.
Rejection is so it’s frustrating when you know you can do something and you get turned down. So it’s really really bad. Rejection is very bad.
Did Burnaboy really snub him?
“We were at a party, and I heard that Burnaboy had just walked in. I’m a huge fan of Burna; I left where I was because I wanted to go and greet him. I asked if I could say hi to Burna, and they asked why? That was when I just withdrew. So, people thought it was his bouncers bouncing, me, but it was my bouncer that told me, ‘Oga make we comot for here’.
I’m not even sure Burna saw me, because I don’t think he’ll see me one on one, and he’ll tell me not to greet him. I know how many times I’ve told my bouncer, to let them come greet me, if I lose them, would you pay me?
These are the people who put me there. It is the people who voted. It’s just like politics; if we vote you, we need access to you, so if we vote you and we’ve made you a millionaire, and you’re coming out to do buga.
